Resolve Compliance Ltd is coming up to its’ first anniversary, which seems a good time for me to write my first blog. I do not apologise for the fact that as you read on, it will come across more like an awards acceptance speech.
It has been a bit of a roller coaster ride but a lot has been achieved and much fun had learning online networking skills (thank you Jean Paul Smalls ). Some of you would have been witnessing me developing my “tweeting” skills . . . . . . I find that it's a bit like e-mail, as soon as you submit a comment, you realise you have spelt something wrong or missed something out and then panic.
The website has been up and running for a while now and can be found at http://www.resolvecompliance.co.uk/. Further improvements are being planned, including a “lighter side of compliance” page – yes, compliance jokes and anecdotes. You see, us folk in risk and compliance roles tend to have a GSOH but we do not often get the opportunity to let it loose. Regular newsletters are also being published, the latest issue can be found on the website under “In Focus”.
I am finding my independent voice, which is extremely liberating, and I have recently submitted a to FSA CP10/12 Competence and ethics on behalf of the company: Resolve Compliance Ltd response CP1012 FINAL.
In a bid to develop my public speaking and presentation skills, I am now a member of the Guildford Speakers Club (part of Toastmasters International), a really friendly and lively club – though I hope they do not check this blog for accurate use of grammar.
On a more personal level, it has been great working from home whilst my son sat his GCSEs. That said, he is keen for me to find an assignment that takes me away from home again (I can’t think why). Perhaps I should get him to go out and do the selling, his incentive being able to get rid of me for a few months…. ah, now then, would that incentive have implications under The Bribery Act or maybe the Remuneration Code, or indeed the . . . .
